Founded as “Alberta-Smyth” in New York City in 1906, the company’s focus has always been on services to finance, treasury, and accounts receivable. Smyyth was spun-off from Creditek Corp when that company was sold and merged into a global firm. Smyyth’s revolutionary Credit2B credit information platform was sold to a strategic acquirer in 2018, as it did not fit our long-term product goals.

Our focus is intelligent automation for corporate credit, accounts receivable, collection, and deduction management. Our experience and subject matter competence mean there is no learning curve, nor many situations we haven’t seen before.

Senior Leadership

Smyyth’s leadership has extensive backgrounds in business process outsourcing (BPO) and cloud software, for B2B Accounts Receivable – Credit, Collections, Deductions Management, and Cash Application ,and working cross-functionally to serve our clients throughout the entire revenue cycle.

Kristen Metzger – President and Chief Executive Officer

Kristen is a foremost U.S. expert in enterprise accounts receivable optimization and is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Before Smyyth, Kristen served as Sr. Vice President Operations for Creditek, the leading BPO firm in order-to-cash, where she managed operations for numerous Fortune 1000 companies, and earlier with Accenture Strategy and Business Architecture.  Kristen received a BA in Economics from The University of Vermont and has an MBA in Strategy and Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

John Metzger – Chairman

Smyyth’s focus is on Carixa cloud software and services to optimize credit, collections, trade promotion management, and deduction management.  John was previously Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Creditek Corp., from start-up to the singular leadership position in A/R BPO, and to its ultimate sale.  John’s early career positions were as Director of Credit, VP Distribution, and EVP Global Operations in the consumer goods industry, and also led a consultancy. Credit2B, another leading company he founded for automated business credit decisions, was acquired by a strategic acquirer in 2018. He is a graduate of Rutgers University.

Frank Boni – Vice President – Managed Services and Client Operations

Frank is responsible for Carixa Credit-to-Cash SaaS client operations, and outsource and collection operations. Prior to joining Smyyth, Frank had more than 20 years of experience in commercial receivables management, credit, and collections, including serving as Director of Operations and Sales Support for NCO Financial Systems, Inc. Earlier in his career, he served in management capacities with Dun & Bradstreet RMS, and Payco GAC Corp. Frank has a B.S. in Business Administration from Hofstra University.

Andrei Afanassenkov – Chief Technology Officer

Andrei has been a strategic resource to the Smyyth companies since 2006 including leading the development team for Carixa, Smyyth’s modular credit-to-cash automation platform. Andrei has deep experience in FinTech and enterprise technologies, computer simulation, and 3D modeling, and holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Bryansk University. He leads Smyyth’s infrastructure and software development activities.

Joseph D’Apolito, Chief Financial Officer

Joe is responsible for finance, corporate planning, and shared service functions for several Smyyth companies. He has over twenty years’ management experience in finance, accounting, and administration with large and mid-sized businesses. Earlier in his career, CFO and V.P. Underwriting for PHHC, Director of Health Care Reform at Emblem Health, and CFO of a $5 billion unit of Anthem, as well as the CFO of Empire Roofing. Joe is a graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in Finance and Accounting.

Karen McCann – Vice President, Operations and Product

Karen has 20 years of experience in operations, data management, administration, and customer service, including serving as Director, Client Services with Creditek, a leading outsourcing company, and as a customer services executive in the telecom industry. In addition to managing Smyyth’s operations and client services, Karen is the product manager for Carixa, the company’s remarkable cloud order-to-cash automation.

Susan Burns – Manager, Client Services

Susan is responsible for managing client engagement from implementation to ongoing data operations and user experience. She was previously Sr. Business Analyst with Pilat HR, a SaaS provider of human capital solutions for Fortune 100 clients, and earlier was finance and accounting system administrator for AIG. She is a skilled and certified project management professional.

Tom Materasso -Director, Solution Development

Tom’s focus is on AR Automation Solutions and has 25 years of experience in both managing and developing systems to automate credit-to-cash operations. His roles with Smyyth have included product and onboarding management for Smyyth’s Carixa cloud platform. Tom previously served as Account Executive for Sage-Intact, Project Manager-BPO F&A for Accenture, Sr. Project Manager for SunGard, and Director of Client Services for Creditek. He has an MBA from Pace University.


Shyarsh Desai

Shyarsh has been associated with Smyyth since 2013 as CEO of, a leader in B2B credit decision automation until its sale to a strategic acquirer in 2018. Earlier in his career, Shyarsh was Corporate Development Officer at Global Compliance, and Leader – Corporate Strategy and Business Development for Dun and Bradstreet, and with Corporate Development at IBM. Shyarsh has degrees from the University of Bombay and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Kim Zablocky

Associated with Smyyth since 2002, Kim is Chairman of the affiliated Retail Value Chain Federation (, the leading advocate for retailer-supplier trading partner synchronization that champions initiatives to increase industry-wide productivity, profitability, and growth. Kim is well known for his expertise in customer financial services and serves as an advisor in matters concerning the retail and distribution industries. Kim holds a BA in Political Science from the State University of New York.

Richard Weisman

Richard’s experience includes Finance, Operations and General Management in Publishing, Pharmaceutical, Consumer Products, and Services with roles including CFO, COO, and President. He has served as President of a trade publishing company, President of Smyyth’s staffing subsidiary, and as CFO of Creditek. Rich has a B.S. in Accounting from St. Peter’s College and an MBA in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
